Hands to Hold is looking for families open to African American children. We have several situations available. The most urgent is for a family open to a precious African American baby BOY that was born 1/16 in Texas. His birth weight was 4lb 4oz and his APGARS were 6:9. His current weight is 5lb 2oz. This little boy was born at 32 weeks gestation and his birth mom did not have any prenatal care prior to delivery. The baby boy was placed on oxygen at birth and remained on oxygen for 3 days following delivery as a precaution given his gestational age at birth. He is now breathing room air with no complication. He did receive an MRI a week after delivery to check for brain bleeds – the MRI was negative at this time. He will require another one at 4 weeks of age. He is currently on a feeding tube and working on sucking a bottle. He is doing better with his sucking ability but remains very slow at the process. He is taking 3 bottles per day and each feeding last approx 30 – 40 minutes but he does take the whole bottle. His direct care givers will begin to increase his bottles as he continues to improve. He has been tested for the sickle Cell trait and that test is negative. He is expected to remain in the hospital for another 2 – 3 weeks before being released. Please contact Jamie at littlehands@handstohold.com or visit our website for additional contact information and additional information about this opportunity. Fees are $23,650 for everything but finalization and travel – due at the time of placement. |
